What is DPI and why it matters
DPI = dots per inch, a measure of image resolution. Higher DPI captures more detail, but creates larger files.
- 300 dpi (Standard): Best for on-screen viewing, sharing, and most reprints at original size.
- 600 dpi (Archival): Ideal for long-term storage, larger reprints, or when you want extra detail.
Most vintage prints don’t gain real-world detail above 600 dpi; these two tiers keep quality high without wasting space.
